Starter trouble won't stop karter
By Simon Saunders

At ten years old Kasia Nicklin has made a strong entrance to the world of karting.

The young contender beat the British Champion to a second place at a race at Whilton Mill over the weekend.

Over 30 cadets including some of the top young riders in the country, took to the course on Sunday.

In the first two heats, Kasia finished a credible 15th in rainy conditions, followed by a stunning second place leaving her 10th on the grid for the final.

Unfortunately Kasia was left stranded on the start line as her engine failed to fire.

Proud father Chris Nicklin said "Fate conspired against us.  Still we look forward to next week's Brazilian Cup and Red Lodge the week after next."
