Karting champion celebrates pole position
Local school girl Kasia Nicklin has driven herself to unprecedented levels of success in the competitive racing circuit, by winning the Club 2000 Red Lodge owner-driver championship.
Sponsored by local dealership Cecil & Larter Saab, Kasia had a tremendously successful year in 2006, entering two major owner-driver cadet kart championships - the Red Lodge championship and the Whilton Mill Kart Club championship - and achieving exemplary results in both contests.
Kasia swiftly achieved a lead of 121 points over her 16 championship contenders in the Red Lodge Championship. By the penultimate round it became apparent that her competitors would be unable to close the gap on Kasia as she sped towards a comfortable victory.
With 2006 being the first year that Kasia had competed in the Whilton Mill cadet championship, her aim in January was to complete the 11 rounds and finish within the top ten of the 30 cadets who entered the contest. Kasia finish the championship in seventh place - a commendable achievement for a first time contender racing against some of the most accomplished drivers in the UK.
Haydon Wilding, sales manager of Cecil & Larter Saab, said: "We are delighted to hear that Kasia has achieved her goal of winning the Club 2000 championship and on behalf of all at the dealership I would like to offer her our congratulations. Kasia is a very talented young driver who is passionate about her sport and I am certain that she will be agreat success at the national championships this year. We are proud to continue offering Kasia support and funding for the 2007 season and we wish her the best of luck in the first rounds".
